How to get strong sticky tape residue off of white painted walls?

I used double sided tape to fix things to my walls as they are too hard for pins and I didn't want to use nails - but now I can't get the residue off again. Nothing I've tried even remotely works - help please!!!!

Many thanks. How to get strong sticky tape residue off of white painted walls?
WD-40

Spray on a small clean cloth and rub it off, once it's off it stays off, the WD-40 prevents the glue/residue 're-stick'.How to get strong sticky tape residue off of white painted walls?
WD40 takes it off really well, but test in an inconspicuous area first, to make sure it doesn't leave an oily residue on the paint that won't wash off.

WD40 works great for taking price stickers off things like glassware, and wood.
Use a tiny amount of gasoline to rub it off with a paper towel.
Try a product called GooGone. I get it at JoAnn Fabrics or WalMart. Its pretty cheap, %26amp; lasts a long time. It removes all sorts of sticky residue as well as crayon markings, tar, etc. I use it a lot. Just test it on an out-of-the -way area first. Good luck!!
Sand it off or scrub it off with a scrubbie thing and then repaint the wall. Or paper over it with lining paper then paint the wall. Sorry i have never found anything that will take it off and not the paint or paper!
WD 40
get a really damp hot cloth and just rub that area out. it'll melt some of the stickiness and then you can wipe it clean.
There is this stuff called goo-gone. I used it to get duct tape residue off my glasses when they broke. It works like a charm!
get some goo off they sell at like walmart or try some home remidies like bleach or reagular cleaning supplys
Rubbing alcohol works best.
Try dabbing it with blue tack,
sometimes rubbing alcohol works. It depends how far gone the tape is. You want the glue to get sticky and soft again so it kind of rolls off.
Just use plain old rubbing alcohol.
I HATE TO SAY THIS IM GOING FOR THE ENVIROMENT BUT Y AMMONIA OR BETTER YET TRY WD-40 IF ALL ELSE FAILS JUST USE PEANUT BUTTER
Brasso works a treat.
OiO right WD-40...
Mr. clean magic eraser
There is a product called Goof Off. You can buy it at Lowes or Home Depot. It will take it off with no problem whatsoever!
Lighter fluid can be used to remove adhesives. Just put some on a rag and rug the tape. Rotate the rag as it takes up the adhesive. This won't leave a oily stain like WD-40.
