How to fix wall damage from feeling off the wall paper before painting?

I am taking off the old wall paper (10yrs old), no liquid apply, some area has been damaged by the old glue with fast peeling, use the sander to get rid of the glue. I put new sheetrock to repair, then, texture it, paint it, it still shows the damage and the repair lines. Anyone knows what is the best way to repair wall damage and without leave a mark? Need a Quick and effective solution. Thanks. How to fix wall damage from feeling off the wall paper before painting?
Your experience is not qualified for this job..1st you stripped wallpaper by simply pulling it off..no stripper such as ';dif';..second the damage wasnt from the old glue, but rather the new ';applicator..being you';...you did not know how to match the existing texture..evidently...or it wouldn't show..so next time ';don't let it show';..quit sqeezing pennies and hire a pro';...Your experience was not capable of tackling this task..You took too many shortcuts..How to fix wall damage from feeling off the wall paper before painting?

How much should I charge someone to tutor them with painting?

    I'm a pro contemporary painter.

Just wondering how to go about pricing sessions for tutoring?

Say twice a month for an hour and a half per session.

Thanks in advance...How much should I charge someone to tutor them with painting?
I say the a basic rate of 50 bucks per hour is good. so 75 dollars for each seasion you speak of!How much should I charge someone to tutor them with painting?
Although you're a professional, you're not mending anything like a mechanic so you should charge similar rates to someone such as a piano teacher. Maybe $70 for an hour and a half. That's if they bring their own materials. Obviously more if they're expecting to use yours. Although I wouldn't overcharge them. If you charge a little less than expected they might ask for lessons more often.
You are a professional. See what they are charging now for car mechanics and plumbers in your area, probably about $70-80 per hour. You can charge the same, if your clients can handle it.

Here, plumbers are $75, the garage is $83, and ice skating is $86.

How to make a baby painted turtle shell strong?

the shell is not soft like gushy but it is a littile thin what do i need to do to make it strongHow to make a baby painted turtle shell strong?
It is normal but you should start now to build up the bone. Feed it earthworms and small fishes (not goldfish -- junk food). Liver dusted in bonemeal will provide both the calcium and the vitamin D needed to absorb it.

It's nice to find a turtle's human who plans ahead. Best of luck. How to make a baby painted turtle shell strong?
Make sure it can get out of the water and bask in light that includes UVA and UVB rays. Feed it guppies - live ones. The calcium in their bones will help. You can check out supplements at the pet store but I've found a natural approach is better.
Drop tiny pieces of cuttle bone which can be found at local pet stores this adds calcium and progresses the growth of every bone in the body. Hardens the shell to but this can only work if their is a uvb light looking over it.

I'm trying to make a digital photo look like a painting using all kinds of programs, how can I do it best?

I have GIMP, Picasa, Photoshop 7 (which I don't know how to use), ACDSee and Photo express 3. I tried all sort of stuff but it's never quite what I'm trying to get.

How to make my room emo/scene? NO PAINT.?

hi before i start , im not labeling.. i just dont know any other way to desribe it.

my room is smallish and im not allowed to paint it.. my room colour is white and i have dark blue curtains.

what are some tips, websites, links or photos?

    anything will help ^^

    thanks in advanced xD

xHow to make my room emo/scene? NO PAINT.?
I'm truthfully unsure of whether you're a girl or a boy. If you're a girl, here's a photo of a scene bedroom, and you can imitate some of that.

    http://photo.xanga.com/xbertyx/440bf2278鈥?/a>

But in general, even if your a boy, the idea is the same. Band posters, CDs, music, anything you buy from Hot Topic...use those. How to make my room emo/scene? NO PAINT.?
You could put funky pictures that you take in black and white or find some at a photo store. Cover up the walls with cool and interesting bands that you like, just to fill up the white walls. You might also want to get new bed sheets to match your curtains, or go in a different approach with something really random like neon, but that's not exactly emo. Hope this helped! Oh and you could get cheap sheets at Ikea or Target. Maybe even switch out your light bulbs to glow in the dark/neon. that way when you turn on the lights the white walls will look soooooo cool!!
    http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?popId=APARTMENT%26amp;navAction=poppushpushpush%26amp;isSortBy=true%26amp;navCount=21%26amp;pushId=A_FURN_BEDDING%26amp;prepushId=APARTMENT_FURNISH%26amp;id=A_FURN_BEDDING_SPREADS

I used multiple tapestries with thumbtacks on my walls since I could not paint. Urbanoutfitters.com has lots of them in pop art designs. I also used band posters to cover all of my doors.. I took paper lanterns and hung them in the corners of the room for light. I made sure everything matched (I used black, white and teal) to make sure the room didnt look sloppy.

Another thing you can do it take a large colored sheet and spread it out outside. Take a color paint (one that contrasts to the sheet color) and splatter paint all over it randomly. Then hang this sheet on the wall so it is tight. This will cover your walls so they arent boring but is not permanent. As long as you hang the sheet up so it is stretched across the wall and secured at the ceiling and floor it won't look like what it is. You can also use safety pins to hang up posters/pictures onto the sheet.
at the head of your bed or over a desk I'd suggest getting all of your CD covers, lay them out length wise or just by the cover, tape them on the back side and put that up from wall to ceiling. It's not only modern but pretty emo.

Another idea is to take pictures of random people that aren't looking very happy, print it in black and white or pictures of a forest in winter is always pretty dark.

If you want a real shock then either do a whole wall of a lot of one thing (i.e. posters) so no wall is showing leaving the rest of the walls completely blank or have one small picture out of the entire room in a black frame. You're room will look larger either way and part of being emo is being simple with style.
    Um,

To go for the goth look I suggest you maybe put band posters up.

That's always the best thing to do.

Also, maybe get a different bed set.

If your going for goth/scene do something dark like black or dark blue to match the curtains

    I hope I could help! =]
well u might want to put in some pice to cover the walls or maybe some wallpaper.

Do not put your artwork on Ebay! I sell items on Ebay and tried once to auction a couple of my paintings and they sold for peanuts. Not the best place for artwork. Here is the best site I have found, norma2u2, and I am getting about 250 hits a day. It is easy to use and first level is free. Put your art on this site and see what happens. You'll get lots of feedback, I promise!

Approach local restaurants and ask to allow the restaurant to show with the possibility of selling to interested patrons.

    8000 X 11000

I have Paint shop pro and all i did is switch the measurements from pixels to inches and typed in 8 by 11 then i switched it back to pixels and it said 8000X11000 just try what i did to get the exact pixels for your computerHow many pixels are equal to a peice of paper (8x11) on paint shop pro?
    Got answer from here:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>

But in short, it depends on your DPI (Dots per Inch) or PPI (Point per Inch).

    300 ppi - 2400x3300. (300*8 x 300*11)

    400 ppi - 3200x4400
Resolution is dependent on a couple of factors, physical size and DPI (Dots Per Inch).

If you want to print your picture at magazine resolution, your DPI is 300 (industry standard), and since you have 8x11'; that gives you 2400x3300 pixels.

You could also boost your DPI, but there's no point in making it higher than the resolution of the device (ie.printer) you'll be reproducing it on.

How much does it cost to replace a door and paint on a honda crv2000?

go see a couple of bodyshops for an estimate. How much does it cost to replace a door and paint on a honda crv2000?
Replace and paint a door or replace a door and paint a car?

Replace door and paint, about $400 without blending into the fender/back door. Add another $200 to blend. Paint the entire car, at least $3,000. Anyone that will do it for less is going to do an extremely poor job, it'll look like it was done with a can of spray paint. A good shop that might charge $5,000 will look better than it did when it rolled off the assembly line.

How many of you think it's morally wrong to paint up your kid, put her in a sleazy dress and make her sing?

I just saw a little girl no older than 4 singing ';Big Spender'; (a song about a hooker lookin for a guy to have sex with that has a lot of money) in fishnets and a pink bathing suit. How many of you think it's morally wrong to paint up your kid, put her in a sleazy dress and make her sing?
We pay a heavy price as a society for doing that. Child pornography and child molestation and rape are increasing all the time. How many of you think it's morally wrong to paint up your kid, put her in a sleazy dress and make her sing?
Singing ';Big Spender';? Yeah, that's sleazy and abusive and just disgusting.

The whole pageant thing doesn't sit all that well with me. If other people want to do it then that's their thing. I don't necessarily think it's sleazy but I think it's not the best idea. I think it's always the parents idea (no 3 year old would ever know about pageants so it's not the kids idea) and I think they usually push the kid when the kid should probably be worrying about playing in the sandbox and counting blocks. And it doesn't build self esteem, it does the opposite. Talk to girls who went through it and they'll tell you that.
If you're talking about those child beauty pageants, yeah I think they're disgusting. They do nothing but rob little girls of their childhood and those events also attract the attention of pedophiles. Most the time I don't think those girls want to be in them either. It's just a way for their has been moms to feel good about themselves.
It's disgusting. The parents say the kids like it but they wouldn't be doing it if the parents didn't sign them up for the stuff. The parents are responsible for tarting up their toddlers so they can be leered at by child molesters. And what happens when the kids get too old to trot out looking like hookers and they are no longer their parents ';big stars';? I don't like the kid's chances.
I don't think you need to put a qualifier on there.

    It's just plain wrong.

I can't imagine that anyone could even think it was acceptable, let alone something that should be put on TV.

    It's like eating-a-live-kitten wrong.

    UPDATE:

Do you realize that you've found something that it appears that everyone here on R%26amp;S agrees with?

I don't think you could get all the Christians and the atheists to even agree that water was wet, but we all agree about this.

holler when you get it done!!... email me... I'd love to see it!!....I want to do this shabby bed up but need help? how would i paint it?
I think the fact that it looks ';worn'; is a plus. I may lightly sand it , and clear coat it. To leave it looking ';old';. just a suggestion. If you try to ';strip'; it, the glues may 'let go' and it may all fall apart.
If you're gonna paint it, make it colorful.
Just because I like things that way I'd sand it clean and just put a stain of your choice on it. The instructions on how to do a stain are on the can and fairly simple. Whatever you do, of course, you sand it clean, but if you decide to paint you can use almost any color. It might be interesting with this design to do the Nordic type. I've seen pictures of the Nordic beds next to the fireplace. Perhaps a blue with tiny flowers as accents. If you're more modern design and style, you can really make any choices on colors and accents, or no accents.

How to properly varnish an acrylic painting?

I just finished painting an acrylic painting on a cotton canvas. It's going to be hung without a frame so I'm going to be varnishing it. I've boughten some Krylon spray varnish and I'm wondering how many coats should I apply? Is 1 fine or will I need to apply more? ThanksHow to properly varnish an acrylic painting?
Spray the Krylon fairly close to the painting. Spray it outside (not only because of the fumes, but also so you can tilt the painting and see by the shinyness how well the painting is coated) As soon as the painting has an even coat of shinyness, stop and let it dry. After it dries, look it over in the light and see if there is any dry spots left, then spray a little more on the dry spots.

How to remove vinyl letters from painted metal door?

I need to repaint an exterior metal door. The previous tenant put over 100 small vinyl letters on the door.

What's the easiest %26amp; fastest way to remove these without leaving gouges in the paint that I'd have to somehow fill in, sand, and then paint?

I need to repaint the door today. How to remove vinyl letters from painted metal door?
I just repainted a metal door, and removed the paint with a paint scraper and a blow dryer. I'm thinking this will work with your vinyl letters. A heat gun would probably be a little faster than a blow dryer if you have one available. It was time consuming, but it worked. How to remove vinyl letters from painted metal door?
If you have a heat gun use that to heat vinyl letters and scrape them off with a razor blade scraper. If you do not have a heat gun you can use a blow dryer on high heat.

This should not gouge doors or creat any places you would have to repair.

Although after you scrape the letters off wipe the metal door down with a thinner to remove sticky residue.
The hairdry trick definitely works, so give that a try first.

Be careful with the scraper that you don't dig into the metal. If a spot is really sticking - heat it some more.

Depending on how long the letters have been on, you may find there's a sticky residue from the vinyl lettering.

Another product that works really well is Contractors Desolv-it --- you can probably find it locally. Try your home improvement store, paint store, maybe even the grocery store.

It's non-toxic. Smells like oranges - NO FUMES. And it really gets the goo off.
One way that I remove stickers, letters, etc. simply use a normal hair dryer to heat up the vinyl. Don't get it too hot. Simply heat it up starting at a corner and then peel the vinyl off. When it is off use ';goof off'; or some other substance to remove the adhesive that is left on the metal.

That's tough, you'll have to take it to a restorer, and they might be able to do an analysis. Either way, you'll have to take it to a professional to look at it. You might be able to do some tests on the wood, but even that is not going to be certain of the date. If you can identify the artist, then you can isolate the range within 50 years if it's a well known artist.

Other than that, take it to one of the Antique Roadshows. Their experts can help you. Another thought is to take it to an auction house. Usually their resident experts have enough knowledge to help you identify the age of your item. Can anyone tell me how to determine the age of an oil painting?

Darigan Paint Brushes are going at 1.3 Million NP at the trading post. You can save up and buy that from the traders.

    Or

You can go for a cheaper option which is by using a Darigan Morphing potion. There is a Darigan Blumaroo Morphing potion in the TP going at 350k, and you can probably haggle on it too.I need help with neopets.com...i want a Darigan Paint Brush and i dont know how to get one...can u help?
There are a couple ways to get the Darigan Paint Brush. Well, first of all, you have to save up enough neopoints, which is a lot for the paint brush. Then, you can either search for it on the Trading Post, or, if you participated in the Altador Cup Plot, and got enough points, you can buy one from the prize shop. Hope this helps! =)
You should search for one on like a shop search and then see which member sells it the cheapest.
shop wizard would be the cheapest..but you can also get it randomly, auction, trading post and the shop chat board..just make sure you are aware of the price before you go to the last three...and dont ask anyone to sell it to you cheap..smiles no one wants to lose money on a item they bought at a higher price
You can find them in shops, auctions, trades, or very rarely as a prize and randomly. Or even though this is in about a year you cna play them altador cup when it comes back and when you can get 18,000 points or more you can buy a darigan panitbrush with those points for the team or you could try looking for a darigan potion.

That's going to be expensive. Anytime you cover a previous color, you have to completely cover it. Including under hood, door jams and trunk rails. It gets spendy. I would invest in what you have. How about some blinging wheels? Tinted windows? Stereo sound good? What about a spoiler or exhaust tip? These ideas are less expensive and can be modified at almost the drop of a hat... paint can't be.

RED is a color that tends to stick out in traffic and also tends to be ticketed more than any other color. Just a piece of info for you to think about...
you will be looking at 3-4 hundred pounds for a full respray

I bought this oil painting it is 28'; by 42'; framed and beautiful it is men at the hunt breakfast, not one I have ever seen I know nothing of value or where to begin??How do I begin to research an oil painting?
How about getting an internet picture of it. Then mailing it to someone, like, say, Antiques Roadshow, seriously?

Or a famous art appraiser. Or, possibly, Sotheby's? Places like that, also places listed on Antiques Roadshow.

They always have the names of the auction houses listed underneath the appraiser when he is talking.

I guess there are safe sites where you could load the picture right onto the net, but maybe you want to keep the picture locked up and in a safe place, or insured, before you do. Good Luck.

And you can always check with the Better Business Bureau to make sure a site is safe, or at least get as much assurance as you can get.How do I begin to research an oil painting?

HOW IS THE CHEAPEST WAY TO GO AND THE EASIEST WAY TO PAINT A CAR AND PAINT IT RIGHT AND DO MEDUIMUM BONDO WORK?

ive never painted or done any body work before but im tring to do this to save myself some money and learn a little bit in the processHOW IS THE CHEAPEST WAY TO GO AND THE EASIEST WAY TO PAINT A CAR AND PAINT IT RIGHT AND DO MEDUIMUM BONDO WORK?
Awesome! Hopefully your car is an easy color like black or something though... very difficult to try and get paint mixed to oh say Ford's Mustang red or whatever...

You said Bondo work, does that mean you have damage on the car? If so always try to work damage out carefully with a body hammer or at least some kind of hammer, but don't just go crazy with it...

Using a block of wood or some solid object on the opposite side of your hammering helps smooth out the surface.

Start with 80 grit sandpaper on the damaged area and get it all the way down to bare metal (If 80 is going too slow you can use a little tougher but after using the rougher use the 80 to keep the scratches less intense)

You can use any flat piece of plastic, maybe an old ID card to spread bondo really. Mix up 1 part hardener to 10 parts bondo and do a nice skim coat of it over the bare metal. Be sure not to get it over any painted surfaces because it will most likely not want to adhere...

Let the bondo cure and use maybe around 140 grit sandpaper and smooth it out until it looks nice.

You can probably get a spray can of grey primer somewhere, maybe home depot or something and carefully give it a couple of light layers until you cover the sanded area and the bondo.

After primer has cured take some 400 grit sandpaper and lightly sand on the primer.

Once you've done that you can either use a spray can for paint or get a paint gun and air compressor...

Start blending your color outwards from the damaged area onto the undamaged area until it is nice and covered.

Once that has dried/cured, a can of Clear coat, again at home depot or some art stores, Glossy clear and UV resist is nice. Unless of course, you have a paint gun and compressor then you can get some clear from a paint store like PPG or something..

If you're painting outside of the damaged are you can find a Grey or sometimes Red scotchbrite scuffing pad to scuff up the clear, which you can paint and clear right over without worry about primer.

Just remember to mask over anything you don't want paint on, masking tape and masking paper galore!

Depending on how much you care, you can get inside the door jambs as long as you're careful and let everything cure properly.

If your clear doesn't come out perfectly don't worry, as long as you put on at least a few coats you can come back with some sandpaper.

Using maybe around 2000 grit WET sandpaper you can lightly go over some runs or orange peel.

Buff it a little with buffing compound and she should be good!

How to you identify the theme and mood of a painting? Is it personal opnion?

I'm trying to write an essay comparing paintings and I don't understand how to identify the theme and mood, can there be more then one?How to you identify the theme and mood of a painting? Is it personal opnion?
The theme is basically what is the painting about. Is it a painting of nature, a military scene, is it religious, patriotic, historical, abstract, does it depict one of the seasons etc. If it's a painting of people, what are they doing - is there a family theme - like in many of Mary Cassatt's paintings?

Many early paintings were allegorical - there is an excellent description of an allegorical painting of ';The Light of the World'; by William Holman Hunt - see 3rd link below.

As for mood, look at the colours - how do they make you feel? Are the colors bright and cheerful and make you feel in a good mood when you look at them, or are the colors brooding, dark and depressing. Are the colors garish, discordant and irritating? Or inspiring?

Also the structure of the painting can also suggest mood - horizontal lines in a painting are more restful than vertical or slanting lines. Light, pastel colors are gentle, whereas bright colors can be stimulating etc.

Contrast the paintings by the American artist Mary Cassatt with the abstract paintings ... they will put you in a different mood. How to you identify the theme and mood of a painting? Is it personal opnion?
What does it remind you of? How does it make you feel? It is easier to find a theme for non-abstract, representational paintings, but there is a strong correlation between mood and color.

Is it peaceful or full of energy? Sad? Angry? Happy? Warm?

Different people can view the same painting, and take away entirely different meanings. It is like dream interpretation.

There is no ';right'; answer. If you are being graded on this essay, it will probably be on the amount of thought you put into it, not on what you actually think.
The best way is to have a strong knowledge of art history. In order to understand a painting, and make genuine sense about it when you discuss it, one should be able to put it into historical context, and relate it to other works of art of those times.

Really discussing art is like discussing anything, you need to speak the language. This is why we often end up with the pathetic comment, ';I don't know much about Art, but I know what I like.'; To which we can reply, ';Who cares!?'; While on the other hand, someone who truly knows about the arts of the times and how your painting relates to those times, and why it has endured to our times, will be interesting to listen to.
At first I thought that it depends on each person's perception but after studying the history of art, you will be able to identify the exact mood of the painting.
There are really two schools on this.

    1) In many 'older' or old school paintings the theme is a classical one. Paintings had a theme that would be recognized by any patron of the arts. Good example is the 'memento mori' paintings that had a dead (no pun intended) give away namely a skull in them. Or a biblical scene that had it's own theme directly from the bible. (Don't make the mistake of quantifying these as just a biblical theme. Every scene usually has it's particular special theme)

These themes you can't miss once you know what you can choose from.

    2) In modern paintings it is usually a more personal theme that drives the painter. It can be pretty hard to determine what that is without asking the painter. Mostly you'd have to guess but always guess based on the 'evidence'. If you can tell what makes you think it is a theme you have a point. In a way it is a personal opinion.

Paintings can have many themes but limit your 'observations' to 1 main theme and 1 sub theme.

note: A painter may put himself in every painting in the way of a portrait. This would be a theme in his whole body of work. This may be worth mentioning but it would not be THE theme of a particular painting. (other example is Andy Warhol who has mas-production as a theme in all his work)

  • I would like to ask how to remove tartar caused by excess water after every car wash w/o damaging the paint?

Bubba's right, you have to remove the water. Another way to do it is to use a squeegee made for drying a car. Most parts stores sell them.I would like to ask how to remove tartar caused by excess water after every car wash w/o damaging the paint?
Keeping your car waxed helps the water bead and run off. Shouldn't have to do this more than once a month. Waxing your car keeps it slick and smooth and much harder for calcium deposits to stick.

This is in addition of course to drying the car well after the wash. I do the windows first followed by the chrome then the paint. You may want to start in the places that build up more than other spots.

If you want to remove stuff that's already there start with a compound rub or clay bar followed by a good waxing.

I use turtle brand wax and it always comes out nice for me.I would like to ask how to remove tartar caused by excess water after every car wash w/o damaging the paint?
As soon as you exit the car wash, take a clean tint free towel and wipe down the whole vehicle.

Trying to find out exactly how to prepare small bathroom for painting by myself?

like taping andwhat i need to do before painting so it will look niceTrying to find out exactly how to prepare small bathroom for painting by myself?
We just recently redone both our bathrooms, and this is what we did: Put a plastic drop cloth on the toilet, sink, tub, and floor to protect from splatters. We removed the light fixtures (but we were replacing those anyway). Remove towel bars, toilet paper dispenser, and light switch plates. As far as taping all the trim, we didn't have any luck with that~ it was just a waste of time and some spots the paint still ran under the tape. I suggest getting a good quality angled trim paint brush and a steady hand and eye. Start out with a less visible spot until you get the hang of it and if your using water based paint, keep a damp rag nearby to wipe of any paint you may get on the trim. We also removed the heat/vent from the ceiling and painted the ceiling first.

Have fun! After your bathroom is redone, you can sit back on the ';throne'; and admire your hard work! LOLTrying to find out exactly how to prepare small bathroom for painting by myself?
';flutterinbut'; offers a great answer. In addition, be sure to clean the walls well before painting. Dirt and grime tend to accumulate on bathroom walls due to the humidity generated by your shower and/or bath. Also, many bathrooms were painted with semigloss paint in the past in order that they could be easily cleaned. If that is the case in your bath, you might want to very lightly sand the painted walls in order the new paint will stick to the ';tooth'; of the old paint. Don't forget to wipe away any sanding dust before painting.

Good luck with your painting project.
The two people who answered before me had really good suggestions. I just wanted to add to what they said.

When you are painting, it usually helps if you use a primer, especially if you are covering over a dark color with a light one, or if you are covering a light color with a dark one (in this case you would need a tinted primer). This way you will have to use less coats of paint, saving you time and money.

They actually make mildew resistant paint. I would HIGHLY suggest you use this in your bathroom... thats what we painted our bathroom with. It doesn't cost much more than regular paint and it is really worth it.

If you currently have mold/mildew on your walls, clean them with a mixture of 1 part bleach 1 part water to kill the mold and remove it from the wall.

Along with an angled brush, you may want to use a very small paint brush, like the tiny craft paint brushes the size of a pencil. These are really good at getting along the edges..... even better than an angled brush, especially if you are new to cutting in. I hope this helps and happy painting!

Im going to paint my car i want a nice gloss black what do i need to get ,how much of it.?

That way if you mess up at all you will have a little extra.Im going to paint my car i want a nice gloss black what do i need to get ,how much of it.?
take it anywhere other than maaco. if you are trying to do this yourself for the first time forget black, or go have a shop do it . there is a lot more involved tring to do it yourself than you can imagine, you could easily do more damage trying this . my advice on paint is to leave it to the pros. if you want to buy the paint for a shop to do it see yor local paint supply shop they will get you exactly what you need for the jobIm going to paint my car i want a nice gloss black what do i need to get ,how much of it.?
If you have to ask these questions, then you are not ready to paint your own car. Black is the most difficult color to do well, and takes enormous amounts of preparation and detail work, because even the smallest imperfection in the final finish will show up like a beacon.

If you want to have a black car, find a really good professional painter and talk to him about getting your car done.
I'd take it to http://www.maaco.com and get it done for $700

How to mix turquoise in paint??

    how do you mix turquoise?

using which blue in paint? ultramarine or phthalo????

and that green you use... how do you mix the green? again which blue and which yellow to make the green? e.g. lemon yellow or cadmium yellOWHow to mix turquoise in paint??
Turquoise is a mix or blend of the colors blue and green. It is used interchangeably with the word ';aquamarine';. Turquoise has many shades. These shades can start as soft, pale colors and range into vibrant, intense colors. The color span can start at a light greenish-blue color, aquamarine, and range through to a bluish-green color, turquiose. Here are some tips on creating the color turquoise with your paint.

    Things You'll Need:

    paintbrush

    blue paint

    green paint

    palette

    canvas/paper

cup of water for watercolor paints

clothes that you don't mind getting dirty

newspaper or drop cloths to protect work surfaces

1.Assemble the first six items in the material list.

    2. Place a small amount of blue paint on one side of the palette and green paint on the other side of the palette.

    3. Since turquoise has more blue than green in it, put one-paintbrush scoop of green paint for every two-paintbrush scoops of blue paint in the middle of the palette and mix.

    4. Continue to mix the paints together until the paint is evenly distributed throughout your color sample.

    5.You now have turquoise.

    :]

    Tips:

You can vary the color intensity by changing the color ratios. Currently, the ratio is 2:1 (two blue:one green).

How to mix turquoise in paint??
As you probably know, Turquoise is a very artificial colour. So you are best using artifical colours to make Turquoise. You can buy colours very near to it (such as Cerulean Blue) and add a bit of white. It should be noted that white is the main key colour that binds everything together

If you want to make a opaque Turquoise then use opaque colours especially Titanium White. For a transparent Turquoise, use transparent colours bind with Zinc White.

My personal favourite mixture for Turquoise is 1 part Cobalt Blue to 1/2 Lemon Yellow and 1/2 Sap Green. To get the desired shade, add Titanium White. If the mixture is too blue, adjust by adding Lemon Yellow.
Phthalocaine blue and lemon yellow and white vary as required. French Ultramarine is too warm to mix a good turquoise (blue-green)...ther is a Phthalo Turquoise by W%26amp;W I like a lot.
Ultramarine is too dark. Phthalo, cad yellow and a bit of titanium white, sorted.
blue yellow %26amp; green... you'll have to experiment with the different varieties of each
cerulean blue, a little lemon yellow, and white.
just have blue then add in A LITTLE! green it makes a great color! good luck hope it looks beautiful
A light blue and lemon yellow or light green.

I just painted the trims in my new apartment... How long do I have to wait before removing the masking tape?

Remove the masking tape as soon as you're done painting. If you wait until the paint dries, then you will have to seperate the tape from the trim with a razor or sharp knife otherwise you'll pull the paint off the trim too.I just painted the trims in my new apartment... How long do I have to wait before removing the masking tape?
Trust me... I waited until the wall was dry and ended up peeling some paint off with the tape - this will happen because some areas are slightly thicker in paint application than others. don't matter if you used a brush or roller. If it is noticable that the paint is really thick - ie ready to run or drip, wait a bit longer. Otherwise....

Pull the tape off as soon as the paint loses the ';wet'; liquid appearance.I just painted the trims in my new apartment... How long do I have to wait before removing the masking tape?
As soon as the trim is painted, remove the tape. Hopefully you used a blue painter's tape with a 'low tack' otherwise your trim painting might lead to wall painting.
If you have applied the paint properly, it can be removed immediately. The longer is stays the more likely you are to have a problem with it pulling away from the surface at the edge of the tape.
remove the tape immediately after you're done painting. if you wait until the paint dries, you may pull of some of the paint you just applied - then you'll have to waste time doing touch-up work.
    Till the paint is dry
Do it right now or the masking tape will be very hard to get off. Hope this helps.
If you pull it off too soon the paint will drip smudge and smear. Wait a few hours. No need to rush.
The same time as it says on the can for drying. The longer you wait the harder it is to do it neatly. Just a guess 2 hrs..

I want to do a painting in acrylics, with some wording, on gessoed canvas. How can I mask the letters?

I have used carefully cut contact paper or frisket to mask on smoother surfaces. This project will include a lot of lettering so I am trying to figure out a good way to do it. I've considered liquid frisket or rubber cement, but have never used either of those products and I wonder if they could be removed from the gessoed canvas. I want to mask the letters, paint the picture, then unmask the letters and paint a simple outline around the letters.I want to do a painting in acrylics, with some wording, on gessoed canvas. How can I mask the letters?
Since you are working with acrylics...I would go with some liquid frisket...it would be the easiest and most controllable for sure. One of the best I have used is called Incredible White Mask..you can get a pen nib for it as well that makes it very easy to control. Try either Danielsmith.com or maybe Jerrysartarama.com....they might carry it.I want to do a painting in acrylics, with some wording, on gessoed canvas. How can I mask the letters?
Why don't you think about simply painting the painting you want first, then adding the lettering where you want on the painted canvas? In other words, why bother trying to paint around the lettering? It's too much aggravation. And it's so much easier to add the lettering over the paint.

I've used lettering on a dozen or so of my paintings and I've applied two different technics that both seemed to work for me.

The first way was to simply sketch out the outline of the words, make them look as printed out as possible, then I hand painted in the lettering. I've done this on the more figurative, somewhat surreal paintings.

On the more abstract paintings I used a stencil over the already painted area. You can use a pencil around each letter on the stencil using the stencil to outline the letter. Then you can paint into the outline any combination of colors you wish.

Or you can keep the stencil on the canvas and simply paint in each letter, using the stencil as a way to prevent any paint 'spillage' from getting on the rest on the canvas.

Here is a sample of painted words with the help of the stencil:

    http://pics.livejournal.com/unmired/pic/鈥?/a>

Here is a sample of hand-painted in words:

    http://pics.livejournal.com/unmired/pic/鈥?/a>

I hope I've been able to help. However, if you still want to mask in the lettering then the first step still applies. Finish the painting first. Then it's safe to place and use regular masking tape on the canvas (as long as you don't press the masking to hard into the canvas). You could also stretch out and apply the masking tape, as a solid sheet, to a non-sticking surface first (like glass or plexiglass) and pre-cut the letters to your liking. Then remove the excess and use the masking tape sheet as your own version of a hand-made stencil.
There are many, many ways to make letters on your canvas.

The best thing to do is go to amazon.com and find a book on collages that emphasize acrylics.

In the meantime here a few ways.

    1) if u only need a few letters, you can cut them out after printing them and use the acrylic as a glue. just use a clear acrylic medium and goop it on the back and front (some inks may spread) then put it on the canvas and smooth it over. you can paint over it afterwards. you can glue stuff from mags, etc. too

    2) buy stencils

    3) you can buy simple art projector, you place your words on it and project it onto the canvas then trace the outline. I think there is a model that goes by the Prism name, but not sure. They're not that cheap.

    4) I used to use an overhead projector. I bought transparent paper and printed on that, then projected and traced. You need to make sure your printer can use transparent paper first.

But the best idea is to spend 10 bucks on a good book.

  • Repain/paint/update in Java..how to use?

Could someone explain how to use these in Java, and perhaps what the syntax is.

    ThanksRepain/paint/update in Java..how to use?
    Hello,

Basically, each JAVA component (swing, awt, swt) has a paint method that you could override to paint/alter something on the screen after each screen refresh tick rate.

So when you have a JPanel, you can override the paint by introducing anonymous class from the paint method, or just extend that JPanel to your own panel called MyJPanel and override the paint method as well.

    Within the paint method that you overrided you can paint anything ontop of it, the most convenient way is to create a graphics object since it is in the form of public void paint(Graphics g);

Whatever you do with that Graphics class will be applied to that JPanel since you overrided its paint method. If you draw a line like, g.drawLine(0,0,50,0); you will see a line. If you want to use Graphics2D which is a more advance Graphics class, you can just cast your graphics to Graphics2D and your set.

You can do many stuff with that, but you need practice first before doing anything. Take a look at this article and after your done reading it, you will understand a good amount of knowledge based on this:

Does painting a room green really make skin look abnormal? How to avoid this?

I am interested in decorating an interior using greens but am concerned about the negative effects.Does painting a room green really make skin look abnormal? How to avoid this?
There are definite setbacks to painting a room green. There are also advantages (such as the calming effect it has on mood).

To avoid having a green tinge, avoid all pickle greens in a room that gets lots of light. Opt instead for an apple green room and always remember to use green sparingly in a room decor. In other words, there needs to be something to break up the green. To do this, simply don't paint all the walls green. Opt for 1, 2 or 3 green walls and do the others another color more flattering to the skin.

Or opt to break up the green in the room by using darker color furniture on the green walls - espresso coffee brown woods work good for this.

In decor accents, such as art, vases, lamps, cushions frames, etc., make sure you have some red in there. Just a wee little bit will tone down the green. Also, in your metals in the room, opt for adding golds instead of silvers. This will warm up the green and cast you in a better light.

Enjoy your new space!Does painting a room green really make skin look abnormal? How to avoid this?
No that doesn't happen no matter what color you paint. The only thing that makes your skin look abnormal is fluorescent lighting. Try to avoid that and you will be fine.
Okay, that is obviously a weird myth....or something. I have had a green room for years and i have had NO side effects. So don't worry.

it depends on where u leave

i just got mines done yesterday and it cost $40.How much will it cost to get my nails painted (fingers and toes)?
Well its probably 15-20 for manicure and 15-20 pedicure if its like a small shop but in the link i put it shows the prices for small shops and hotels and lots of other places so if it was like a big shop it would show the range of prices.
where i live its 17-20 dollars for a mani %26amp; pedi together as a package and then 10 dollars for a design on each finger. you shouldnt pay 40 dollars for a mani pedi that is absolutely a rip off for what they do and the time it takes, it is not worth more then 20 all together.
probably 15 for mani and 15-20 for pedi than like 3-5 dollars extra for designs but it honestly depends on where you go sometimes i have gotten them cheaper than 15 or 20. But since its your friends shop she might give you a deal. Hope that helps!
Ususally its 2 dollar a finger for a design. So maybe 20 for hands and 20 for feet.
usually for just a manipedi like 30 but with a design plus a tip like 40

How expensive would it be to start experimenting with painting- acrylic being the medium?

I would like to purchase canvases, acrylic paints, and supplies (brushes, sealer, etc.). In your experience, about how much would ';the basics'; cost?

Any tips for an acrylics newbie (I usually work with water colors or pastels) would be greatly appreciated!! :)How expensive would it be to start experimenting with painting- acrylic being the medium?
First of all, since you are an artist who has work with water colors and pastels, do you really want your acrylic painting comes out much less in quality than your water colors or pastel work.

Because acrylics dry fast, so there is no way to conserve it. Be prepare to to waste a lot of it.

The price of paints vary from student-grade to artist-grade,

regular to heavy-body, and series. Then you have to have your primary and secondary colors. You also need your mixing colors like burn sienna, raw umber and white.

You must have at least nine tubes of paint. That is minimum forty dollars right there.

You also need retarder to slow down the drying time of the paints unless you paint really fast. That is eight dollars.

As for the brushes, if you have any synthetic water color brushes that you dont use it any more, try to use them for the acrylic. If you feel that they are too soft and unable to push the paints across your canvas, then you should go buy some.

Buy the cheapest flat brushes. As for the round brushes, I recommmend that you invest in quality round brushes which the tips actually come to a point. The least expensive way to get your brushes is to buy them in a set (a cheap set), then get some good brushed for details. That is about and around thirty dollars ( six to ten dollars for a set of brushes).

The prices of canvas vary from styles (how it was stapled), quality (regular or heavy duty bars) and sizes.

And you dont need any sealer for your canvas, because acrylic paints is the ';sealer';. Unless, if you need to reuse or start over your canvas and like to have them in white again, then you need to get some white gesso.

A bottle of gesso is around eight dollars.

Prepare to spend about one hundred dollars for your supplies. And as for tips about how to use acrylic paints, dont do it. Why paints with acrylics when you can work with oil paints. Since you are starting a new set, might as well be oils. You will love it.How expensive would it be to start experimenting with painting- acrylic being the medium?
You can get a basic set of acrylics for somewhere around $15 (+ or -), and some cheap brushes for around $5. Your basic set will have about five colors and will be in small quantities, but for just starting out it might do the trick.

I'd check out the crafts section at Wal-Mart to begin with. They'll have acrylics, brushes AND canvases. After you get a little more experience, you'll want to buy better products at your local art supply shop.

Acrylic is easy to work with. Don't drown your paint with water, but use just a bit on your brush to spread the color around. You can achieve really crisp lines with a good brush as well.
I'm 15, and I at least manage this hobbie on my 30 dollar a month thing. I just clip coupons, wacth sales, and buy really nice brushes one at a time. I think my first set of paints were between 15 and 20 dollars, for 6 tubs. You'll find them much easier to mix than water colors. I found a set of really cheap brushes for about 7 dollars, but the nice ones are more like 7 dollars and up each. So worth it though. I actually find that I almost like working on flat canvas better, and it's cheaper [usually like 6 dollars for three medium sized ones]. Hope that was helpful :)
My mother wanted to get back into painting and I found a $40 set of paints, brushes, and pencels at Sam's. She loved it and it really had everything to get her started.

1 Gallon of paint covers 100 sq ft, how many gallons are needed to paint the outside of a sphere 10 ft diametr

The surface area of a sphere is 4pir^2.

Knowing the diameter we can find the radius.

    The radius is 5.

    4pi(5)^2=SA

    4pi25=SA

    100pi=SA

So the surface area of the sphere is 100pi.

    Pi~3.14

The surface area is around 314

    314/100=xgallons

    3.14gallons to paint the sphere.

PiGallons is the exact answer.1 Gallon of paint covers 100 sq ft, how many gallons are needed to paint the outside of a sphere 10 ft diametr
    Area of a sphere = 4 pi r^2

    4*3.14*25 = 314 square feet

    314 square feet * 1 gal/100 square feet = 3.14 gal

You need 3.14 gallons, but if you're buying in gallon cans, then you'll have to buy 4 gallons.1 Gallon of paint covers 100 sq ft, how many gallons are needed to paint the outside of a sphere 10 ft diametr
The surface area of a sphere is A = 4*pi*r^2,

The radius of a sphere is 1/2 its diameter. IN this case r = 10/2 = 5 ft.

    So its surface area is 4* pi * 5^2 = 4 * pi * 25 = 100 * pi = 314.159265358979... sq. ft.

So if one gallon covers 100 sq ft, you'd need 3.14... gallons.

If you have to buy the paint in units of 1 gallon, then you'd need 4 gallons.
Try ';surface area of a sphere'; in a search engine
Ok this is how to do it:

Use sphere area formula: 4(pi)r^2 = A. So r = 5 here and thats A = 100pi which is about 314 sq ft. So it would be 3.14159 gallons of paint needed for this job.

You can do this w/o a calculator, it simple moving around decimals.
    pi gallons, or 3.14 gallons

How do i start a painting business, what do i need to get (licenses ant that sort of stuff), and how to get it

i will be doing private and commercial painting. a link would be great to thx.How do i start a painting business, what do i need to get (licenses ant that sort of stuff), and how to get it

good luck! How do i start a painting business, what do i need to get (licenses ant that sort of stuff), and how to get it
Normally, if you do this as a handyman type of thing, you really don't need any type of license of permit..However, you should have some type of insurance, just in case you should get hurt (fall off a ladder) or actually damage the customer's property...this way, you will be covered...as a matter of fact, your customers might ask you if you are insured which will increase you business, as well.

I would start off by definitely advertising in your local papers..Putting a link online is good provided that it be local, not a worldwide kind of thing...
You dont need any licence you only need talent and talent will bring you buyer.

Other than talent you need originality: something never seen before and dont expect to make a living with painting.
First off you need at least 1 DWI or DUI all private contractor painters are alcoholics.

  • How to remove pencil markings from painted wood?

i am currently painting a piece of wood, i want to seal it but there are some stray pencil marks i want to remove. How can i do that without repainting since i am out of the original color i used? How to remove pencil markings from painted wood?
I know this answer might sound dumb, but try erasing it with a pretty good eraser. If not, you can try washing it with wet cloth, but that might smudge the pencil a little. You can also try buying a similar paint, I bet it will be hard to notice. Hope I helped. Good luck. How to remove pencil markings from painted wood?
Use a good soft pink pencil eraser to remove the graphite. You may not be able to remove the pressure marks, though since you can't sand it lightly without removing the finish.

The soft pink pencil eraser is your best bet since the wood's already painted and you don't have any more of that paint. I would hesitate to put any solvent on the wood because it may affect the paint. Even GooGone or Desolvit will leave a discoloration.
Try an artist's gum eraser - don't wash it - anything strong enough to take off the pencil marks could take off the paint also.

If it were me I would buy a quart of the original paint if I could - it doesn't hurt to have it for touch ups anyway.
try meths on a soft cloth

How to clean my boats hull. It is not painted. I got almost all of the algae off but there is still a lot?

of discoloration and a real dark waterline. I bought a gallon of the NuHull because I thought that would get it cleaned up, it helped but didn't do it a whole lot of justice. I used a gasoline powered pressure washer before and after using the NuHull. Any suggestions on what I can use to get the hull looking new again? How to clean my boats hull. It is not painted. I got almost all of the algae off but there is still a lot?
First, PLEASE don't use acid based cleaners. They are caustic, toxic, and environmentally damaging. Lets all do a little bit to help clean up this dirty world we have created.

Deep staining is usually caused by a combination of porosity of the gelcoat, and high levels of iron or tannin in the water. The most effective way of removing these stains is with a buffer and rubbing compound. A lot of work, but great results. After buffing and cleaning, apply a couple of coats of quality marine wax to help prevent a recurrence of the staining.

    ......................................…

Just did some checking Y-10 and FSR, as i have never heard of either. Y-10 is no longer available. FSR is $16 for 16 ounce container, so is very costly if you where to clean an entire bottom. Too bad, they both sounded like great products! How to clean my boats hull. It is not painted. I got almost all of the algae off but there is still a lot?
I've got your correct answer to this. To clean the brown and stained waterline and more. I live on a the Ohio river that leave's a boat hull looking horrible. I have been useing an product called Slimmy Grimmie comes in pint container makes 3 gallons, I use in a 1 gallon pump up sprayer enough for my 24ft boat. It cost around 20-24 dollars and you can get it a most marine shops or look it up online and order. It gets better, spay it on the hull and it will disappear on its own no scrubbing or scratching and it will leave your hull nice and shinny after you rinse it off. Its not good for metal surfaces. This product Works just that simple
I've used this stuff to remove some pretty bad grime. Be sure to wear rubber gloves when using. Just brush onto the hull and let sit for a few minutes, then hose off. Be sure NOT to let it dry on the hull.
Y- 10 or FSR made by Davis. I used to keep a jar in my tool-bag during haul-out. Got some big tips. Lots of very happy customers. Any good marine store. It is not caustic, like On/Off, west marine brand. Starts out as a blue jell, wipe on, don't let dry, hose and wipe off. Easy. No buffing. Biodegradable. Do put on new wax after. Have Fun!
On %26amp; Off Hull cleaner if this don't take it off nothing will but be careful the stuff is very caustic spilled some on the rug of my van and it ate the nap off of the rug

so i have an arbor board and if you don't know they use clear paint on grip so that you can still see the beautiful grain, and as is natural through use its wearing a little thin. the question is the store i bought the board doesn't sell the clear grip and no other shops i have found even sell arbor (price you pay for a beautiful board i guess), does anyone know how to get it? im considering ordering off the internet but its expensive so even shop prices for comparison would be great.I have an arbor longboard grip wearing thin in places, any clues how to buy clear paint on grip?
They do sell clear grip tape, and no Im not sure, but Im sure you can order it online like you said, or I do know that other longboards use that kind of grip too.

I just painted a room and could use advice on how to stencil some flowers near the ceiling?

I am thinking to stencil flowers along the top because it could be done cheaply. I don't have much money at all. Where should I shop for stencils that would be inexpensive? WalMart?I just painted a room and could use advice on how to stencil some flowers near the ceiling?
Michaels is better! Go there, stencils are cheap or you can make it yourself. Either way.I just painted a room and could use advice on how to stencil some flowers near the ceiling?
Yeah... WalMart is quite good for prices on art stuff. Or if you have a Michael's near you, they often have some really good deals and sales.

Or ask a friend who can draw quite well to make your stencils for you.

How much does it cost to get my car and rims painted?

I have a 1996 Chevy Camaro. I wanted to paint it black with black rims but don't have a clue how much I can expect to spend. How much does it cost to get my car and rims painted?
A good quality paint job will cost about $3000 if you shop around BUT I would not recommend doing this for 2 reasons.

1, Black is poor resale value.

    2. You will not gain any investment for it. ie. may as well burn the cash.

Better off to sell that car and buy one you want in black. Let someone else take the depreciation hit....if you want some black rims look below. good luckHow much does it cost to get my car and rims painted?
I would not recommend painting your whole car, especially if you are doing a different color. A quality paint and job would not be cheap. If you are painting the car with a new color, it will lower the value of the car when you try to sell it. If the car is black, and you want to paint it, you may not need to repaint the whole car, but polish certain panel, and maybe paint the rest. I would recommend going to a reputable auto body shop for an estimate.
I'm not too sure about how much it would cost to get the car painted but I know this. The better and more thorough the paint job, the more it's going to cost. Basically, the paint shops that you see advertising on tv for only $300 or so is basically just a spray job. Very limited taping and no sanding. The really professional jobs will cost up to $5,000 or more and then you have to take into account what type of paint you want. Not to mention certain colors will cost more to paint since it's harder to make it look nice.

I got my rims professionally powdercoated and it wasn't that bad. Under $400 for all 4 rims. But that varies on how big the rims are and I would imagine the type of paint and if you want a clear coat or not.
A high end paint job will be anywhere from $6000.00 and up and if this is a color change meaning to black from any other color it will be more to do it right, wheels probably about a couple hundred each.
if you dont want to spent to much money go to www.maaco.com they will paint your car for $300 ,but if yo want high quality job then you have look for body shop that has good reputation.
i don't think you have to worry about painting the car a different color lower values comes into play within the first 5-8 years because people think it was wrecked plan on paying1200-200 for a good paint job

How much would it cost to have a front bumber re-painted?

I have a 1995 lexus sc400 and decided to drive it one winter, totally ruining the front bumper paint. The car is a very light metallic, sparkly, blue so i'm assuming paint won't be cheap. Any estimates? How much would it cost to have a front bumber re-painted?
A pic of the cover would help a lot.

But assuming it only needs a light sanding and a new paint.

    About 200.00 - 400.00

And you might have a tri stage paint.

    Meaning:

    base coat (silver metallic)

    top coat (candy blue)

    clear coat

That type of paint would be the more expensive due to there being the candy paint.

Most higher end cars have this tri stage paint. How much would it cost to have a front bumber re-painted?
    $600.00

    Give or take.
It depends on the fixer. The lowest you can go is like around $300.
depends on the painter and what his labor charges are. also it dependes on how much damage is done to the bumper. how bad it is.

Thats an evasive question really, a good paint job can cost up to $20,000.00, Does it need any panel repairs? The car has to be stripped, you are liable for extra's like new bolts or clips, removal of windows %26amp; hardware, all panels have to be removed, Are you going to paint the engine bay %26amp; trunk bay? If so the engine has to be removed too, along with all engine bay fittings, The process can take up to 3 months to complete. depends on wether you go 2 pac or acrilic,

if your car needs minimal body work ( dints , rust ect:)

So if you went with 2 pac paint , your car is really straight and its a small car eg: astra-

you will be up fo aprox $4000.00 - $6000.00

Also the country u live in has impact on the price too .

    I live in Australia
I personally charge about 3 grand. If it's a complete color change. This includes under the hood, decklid and door jambs. If there is other damage to the vehicle that would be extra.
lets see wont cost me nothing but the price of the primer, sealer, and the paint and the clear coat since i have a $400 primer gun and a $1100 top coat hvlp gun

How do you glue a piece of decorative wood to a painted door?

the bedroom doors. I tried gorilla glue, it didn't work.

thanksHow do you glue a piece of decorative wood to a painted door?
It depends how heavy this piece you want to glue is. Paint doesn't hold all glues that well, as you noticed.

To get a better grip, you may want to sand down the areas on the door that will have the glue adhere to.

I would use wood glue, good ol' Elmer's.

I would take the door OFF the hinges though, and lay it flat somewhere. THEN glue the piece on so it sits on top of the door overnight. Then rehang the door. How do you glue a piece of decorative wood to a painted door?
You don't have to use glue-- if the decor piece is light as stated than go to the store, hardware or craft and buy some super strong double sticky back tape-- this will work--

before you apply it make sure you wash the area well , then dry--- you will not be disappointed

Expect to pay in the neighborhood of $2500 to $3500 for a complete repaint and body prep. How much would it cost to get my silver ford fusion painted pink?

I want the paint job to look like pink glitter, you know how some bass boats are painted it looks like they have glitter all over them. I dont want the silver taken away I just want the paint job to look like it is pink when the light hits it. How much would a paint job like that cost? How much would it cost to get my silver ford fusion painted pink?
Some things to know... That glittery paint job on the boat is most likely part of what is called a gelcoat. It's a thick layer of hard plasticky material. Since it has some thickness to it, it helps give the illusion of being really deep. However, with paint, this is harder to achieve. A good shop can do it, but just like anything else, you get what you pay for. Paint jobs with suspended solids like metallic flakes or glitter are hard to get right since it can wind up with unevenly distributed glitter.

With any paint job, the more the car is prepped prior to showing up at the shop, the cheaper it will be, since this is where the labor charges are. Your car will have to have the clear coat finish removed before it can be painted, which is labor intensive. I doubt you'd want to do that yourself since it would be easy to mess up the paint by sanding too far, but if you can, it's money saved. If you can mask the areas you don't want painted like the windows, wheel wells, etc..., you can save money. If you want a good job where they do all the work and give you a nice looking evenly distributed finish, I would expect to have to pay at least 2-3k. At least. How much would it cost to get my silver ford fusion painted pink?

I live in the panhandle of florida and I will probably either get the paint job done in Panama City, Tallahassee or Do than. About how much would this paint job cost? How much would it cost to get a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer painted black?
    It depends:

If you want a half done job (like Maaco) is will cost you about $500.00 but all they do is tape up the window and handles and spray it all over. Ok if you are going with the same color, terrible if you are going with a different color (none of your interior parts, door jams etc will be painted)

If you want a QUALITY job, you are looking at several thousand dollars. It will still depend on if you go with a generic black paint code or the Mercury black paint code. A good paint job will consist of pretty much complete tear down of the vehicle, priming and painting.

Then you have the cost of clear coat, body work (cause you do not want to drop $3000.00 on a paint job and not have the dents, dings and deep scratches fixed.. etc..

Most of your automotive paints are at least $400 per gallon and up! Being that you are in Florida you can expect to pay more anyway. How much would it cost to get a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer painted black?

How much would it cost to get my car just painted.?

Depends on the quality of job you want. You would have to look around to find a shop that will work with you on doing much of the work yourself and then having them only do the spraying. A really good paint job will remove all removable parts and paint individually and much of the cost is in the R%26amp;R of the parts ($2k-3k to paint your Corolla with top of the line 2 stage paint). If you prep the surfaces and remove all the parts yourself, door handles, emblems, chrome, etc. you can get a decent single stage paint job at Maaco for example in the $800 range, and others for even less depending on the quality you're looking for or willing to accept. How much would it cost to get my car just painted.?

How long did it take you to become decent at painting?

I love to do things such as drawings (with just a pencil/pen) and working with charcoals and pastels. I also like to paint, but I'm not the best at it. I'm just 17 years old, and haven't really been painting for that long...but, I'm getting discouraged. I think I'm pretty good at painting things such as landscapes, but what I really want to do is portraits...I just can't seem to get them right though. Any advice?

Thanks! How long did it take you to become decent at painting?
The quickest way to learn how to paint is to let nature and the masters teach you. Pattern yourself after one of the masters Vermeer, Da Vinci, Rembrandt and read about them and their works. Go to the library and get a ';How to paint or painting for dummies. Go get some cheap tempera paints and paints leaves in the sunlight, them graduate to acrylics, watercolor and then to oil. Paint yourself in the mirror (only you will seat that long for you), apples are a great fruit to learn how to paint people, paint apples..different kinds under different light..start drawing with a paint brush instead of a pencil and last but not least take a Saturday class at your local Art league or community college (for no credit its cheaper) or better yet talk to your Art teacher at your high school for some serious direction. It took a couple of months to produce nice (mommy gift) paintings but it took me four years to achieve the museum quality I was searching for. I am about to graduate from a prestigious art school and I can say 50% of what I learned I learned from studying the masters and from books I read on my own. So go for it and look at each painting as a learning experience. How long did it take you to become decent at painting?
well,1st you have to have the talent or some type of touch....you obviously disovered you have it so work your way up...keep practicing. believe me i went to art school for 4 years..it takes more and more practice and a highly creative mind if you want to do it as a profession.
If you can draw decently then you have the talent to paint.

It' very personal, but I think you need two years to be a painter. To be an artist could take a lifetime, but you are young so go ahead, maybe take some advice or lessons but don't let yourself become discouraged by anything! (tenacity is the first artist's virtue)
Learning how to paint takes time. I like to paint as well. I started taking lessons at like age 10. I still paint, and I am still larning. (I am now 20). I would suggest practicing your drawing skills, and explore color. Read about and practice making and mixing colors.Just experiment when you paint, trust yourself. You may be surprised how the colors look together. It is a trial/error procss, and takes practice. It would be a good idea to take painting lessons too, a good way to learn how, and apply what you learned on your own. To do portraits, first practice drawing yourself or others. First draw from photographs, then try drawing yourself using a mirror. Get a book on portraits so you can learn proportions and placement. After you become confident or more sure of yourself, try painting a portrait. Try getting a book on painting too, they give good tips on layering colors and such. Good luck with painting, once you get going, you'll love it!
keep practicing, and if thats really what you want to do then go to art school. You will eventually get better at painting over time.
    EVERY STROKE IS AN IMPROVEMENT-

    IT ONLY GETS BETTER!
I have been painting a long time. Check out Bob Ross: The Joys of Painting series, or Frank Clarke: Simply Painting. You can also call at local colleges for painting classes. Even at your age you might be able to get into some of them.

How much money would it cost to get my car painted a glossy orange?

im guessin someone like maaco would do it. im just waundering the price range. thanksHow much money would it cost to get my car painted a glossy orange?
Maaco will do it for $200 minimum, but that is not the finish I think you want. A premium baked paint job with clear coat finish will be at least $700 and could top $1500 if you have it done right. The difference is between if you have your car sanded (which you should) and a primer coat applied (which you should) and if they put 2 coats of orange paint followed by a clear coat. That would be at your top end but would last forever. The $200 job would be one coat over the existing paint and would start flaking off in 3 years; 3 days if a rock hit you on the highway. How much money would it cost to get my car painted a glossy orange?
Starting around 50 bucks to do it yourself (time consuming) to a few hundred bucks for a shitty job that won't last, to a couple thousand for a good job that will last.

For a good paint job, and for a specialty color, you're looking at around $1500-2000. The cost is high to change color on a car because of all the small areas that will need to be painted (inside door frames, etc..)
Umm look for a mom and pop store and thet will do a decent job basically just paiting over the paint, no sanding, no primer , just re paint it for about 300-400 you want it done right though it could cost up to 1000- dollars, just depends on the car, if it has dents, or if the gloss is comming off.
    between $500-$750
    i've got no clue...

but it isn't a ten year old honda sedan with a ridiculously huge wing on the trunk is it?

    that'd be truly terrible.
You are looking anywhere from $500 - 700.
I depends on how much bodywork to do,and what you want to spend doing it.It could cost anywhere from $800 to $3000
    it cost about $400-$500

my uncle works at a car shop ^^
The monetary cost wouldn't be nearly as much as the cost of losing the respect of stylish persons everywhere.

How much does it cost to have a small truck painted at Maaco?

I want to have my little '95 Ford Ranger XLT painted black, but I can't find a price list for Maaco at all on the net.How much does it cost to have a small truck painted at Maaco?
Depending on which grade of paint job you want it can run from $250 for a basic paint job and upwards to $1,000 or for for a like new factory grade finish. Usually Maaco will charge an extra $100 for a paint job on a truck and another $100 for a color change and other Charges to paint the inside the cargo box and or the door jams,How much does it cost to have a small truck painted at Maaco?
the price is different on each vehicle. according to the need of body work or other repairs that have to be made before painting. thats why they want to see the vehicle.
Trucks are always more than cars. You can usually get it done for $400.

Just remember that quality paint sells for $300-400 a gallon at body shops.

You get what you pay for.
Maaaco doesn't post these. They don't quote you over the phone either. Its a sales tactic that most car dealerships/autobody have. They make you come in, and sucker you into a price, saying that you won't get a better deal anywhere else. Call them and ask for an estimate. If they tell you that you can't, ask them for a number to another autobody paint shop. The last thing they want is to lose a customer.
You'll have to stop in for an estimate. The paint and its application are the cheap part of the job. The cost is in the prep work needed. Any damage has to be repaired properly or the finished job will look like crap.

Every job is different and you need an estimate from the shop that is going to do the job. Get estimates from several shops. You may be surprised to learn that a good local body shop may be cheaper. The may charge more for the paint job itself, but can often do the prep work better and faster resulting in a better job for similar money.

  • How much would it cost to have my 1997 F150 painted white?

it is maroon now. and would the paint job wear off at some point, if i just got a basic paint job at maaco? by the way we put dollar signs *before* the amount, i know a lot of people don't know this today. How much would it cost to have my 1997 F150 painted white?
it all depends on how long you want the paint job to last you can get a cheap paint job from maaco and in a few years the paint will fade and flake off do yourself a favor if you want it to last go talk to a nice certified body shop. to do it right it will cost in the range of $3000 to $4000 dollarswant it done right and last for a long timeHow much would it cost to have my 1997 F150 painted white?
Your paint will fade quickly if you get a ';macco'; paint job, it'll probably cost you in the area of $500-$1000 to change the color, but macco does not paint your door jams, under the hood, behind the cab or tailgate sides, so everytime you open the door, pop your hood or drop your tailgate you're going to see your old color, you have to tell them specifically that you want them painted at an additional cost. Now to get a quality paint job you're looking at atleast in the area of $2000-$2500
to change the color is not that bad and Maaco should be able to do it for about $600. to $800. dollars the difference being the door jams and tailgate jam and hood jam

How much would you pay to get a square room painted?

    its about average size.

I paid over 拢100 which I think is too much. How much would you pay to get a square room painted?
Prep the ceiling, walls and woodwork, paint for all three and then labour then 拢100 seems about right. You'll be surprised at the cost of paint. How much would you pay to get a square room painted?
拢90 too much, I would of paid 拢10 for the paint and did it myself
    About 100 dollars.
that's good if you had the ceiling done walls

    and all wood done.!!
thats probably about the right sort of money most decorators would charge. much cheaper to DIY
I was going to say $50 before I read your added comment which I think is about 100 BP so that does sound fair. And I'm in apartment management so I am familiar with how much this should cost.
as a painter, i charge about 拢125 per day, or per room, what ever is cheaper. so you did get a good deal, as long as it was painted well with everything done eg.walls, celings, and woods/doors. this sounds like a 4/5 hour job, so you did good.
you think its too much, well mate that's cheap i wouldn't do it for a 100 quid, if its just the walls with no making good like filling and sanding then perhaps i might do it for that price but including the woodwork no way, it will cost you 180/200 per room for a good paint job, you can of course do it yourself but no DIYer will achieve the finish a pro would especially when it comes to the gloss work, it would be a bit cheaper for a small room but 180/200 quid has been the going rate for a long time and this is what most painters i know charge
thats seems like a rip off, i would just save money and do it myself
well whats the average size of an room. whats the condition on the walls? the quality of the paints provided. I think 拢100 is pretty reasonable, if not a well made bargain.
    nothing..... id do it myself
