Emulsion paint being used. Ceiling is white. Walls are coffee colour. Also how to avoid painting the skirting and architraves. How to straight lines between the ceiling and walks when painting?
A steady hand and a good brush are number one. Cutting a straight line takes specific muscles, and untill those muscles are trained right, you will have a wobbly line.
You can tape an edge(remove tape immediately after painting, or you will pull the dried good paint with it, or use an ';edger'; from the paint store. How to straight lines between the ceiling and walks when painting?
Don't be afraid to use a straight edge and pencil to mark paint lines. This is probably the best way to make sure you get things just right. Once you mark your lines, you can use painter's tape on the opposite side to ensure you maintain a straight edge even if you get a little sloppy.
As far are protecting things you don't want to paint, mask them off with painter's tape (and paper for larger areas).
Id say a steady hand but if u dont have that masking tape??
You could tape off but it is very time consuming...If you dont have a great deal of experience then the best advice I would give is this:-Use a good quality brush and take your time...Once you get going it will get easier..
Use blue painter's tape, then rub the edges very well.
Use a synthetic brush rather than a natural bristle. Synthetic brushes are cut perfectly straight for cutting in and it is the only thing they are good for. Use a bigger brush than you imagine. A two or two and a half in brush. Overthin with water the paint you are using for the cutting in (not the wall paint). The thinner the easier to paint straight.
Never try to cut straight in with the first brush stroke. With your loaded brush paint half an inch or so away from the finish line you want - the second (or third) stroke with less paint on the brush and sliding across your previous paint makes it easier to paint in your final straight line.
Coffee was not the best colour for cutting in. The lighter the colour the less it stands out. Use a 4inch foam roller to flatten your cutting in as you go so it doesn't show when you roller in the walls. Don't dip the foam roller in the paint, just use it to flatten the paint you've applied.
A faster way is to use a painting device , it is a velt pad with rollers , works quite well , Available at home depo etc.
