How to make a photo look like a painting?

I want to edit a photo (in Fireworks) to make it look like a painting, more precisely an oil painting, like the baroque paintings of someone like Caravaggio. How should I do this?How to make a photo look like a painting?

dont know Fireworks but they are all pretty similar. Search for tutorials. Also, play with filter and distortion
Use Photoshop. Open the file, go to Filter - there are many options, try them out.
