Im going to be painting my walls but, first (since my father is a construction superintendent) I need to sand and fill in any nicks in the wall. Any tips on how much sand or painting? How much to sand before painting?
Get it looking as good as possible before painting. Painting will normally only exacerbate problems that were there.
The construction definition of wall finish is when it looks good from six feet away under normal lighting.
Why don't you have your father come over and show you what needs sanding? I bet he would be happy to show you.How much to sand before painting?
';Feather'; it down. That means sanding it enough to get the top of the paint off, and make it feel smooth. It also helps the new layer of paint stick to the wall. You don't have to sand it all the way down. If you fill in nicks, sand it down to be flush with the wall. GOod luck!
You don't sand the wall. You only sand areas that are rough, and the excess hole filler you use. Why not ask Dad how to proceed?
