I was given a painting (reproduction, nothing worth millions) years ago after my Grandma died. My ex-husband sold it without my knowledge. I have looked on the poster/print sites, but although I can see it in my mind I don't know the name of the artist or title of the print. It featured two women in 19th century dress in a parlor/drawing room, one of them was putting on a bonnet while looking in a mirror. The other was standing near a window with French/glass doors opening on a garden. It remember the word 'bonnet' was written on the back, but don't know if it was put there as part of the name of the piece or if someone had just written it. It was in script, in ink, I recall. It has been over 20 years ago, but I always loved it as a child and have never seen it again. Any help on where to look for it or the style/movement of it would be appreciated. If it sounds familiar to you, please let me know. It was large, by the way, about 18-22 inches wide x 24-30 inches tall. How can I find a copy of a painting I used to own online if I don't know the title or artist?
try going to art.com and just describing the painting.
the same thing happened to me
where I lost just a small 8x10 picture of this really pretty red-ish sunset and just typed that in and found it on there.
You of course aren't going to find the original copy, but it helps to just search the description. That way, it might lead you to the artists name, the title, ect.
good luck! How can I find a copy of a painting I used to own online if I don't know the title or artist?
Try flipping through a book of Impressionist or other 19th century art. You might find the painting, or something that looks similar enough that might be the same artist. If you find the artist, you can look him/her up online, or show the picture to someone and ask if they know any other pieces by that artist. It sounds like you remember it well, but it's hard to identify from your description. Some more specific clues about the style of painting might be helpful. Good luck!
i dont think you can find it unless you give a very good description and what day you gave it up so good luck
ask for the artist or title to a site like yahoo answers may help, just describe what your paintings look like and i'm sure there's a people out there who knows it. then go to images.yahoo.com and type in the title or artist the person submitted or answers and see if it matches your paintings.
